Hammerhead revisits some characters from one of the Gift of the Ancients books. Near the end of that earlier book, a group of hammerhead shark shifters were caught trying to do something kind of evil and were sent to the Kinkaid Clan for supervision. This new story picks up at that point, following the leader of that small group of hammerhead shark shifter soldiers and a mysterious island that keeps appearing and disappearing in the gulf waters in which they've been working under close watch of the Kinkaids.
