New Cover: Jaci’s Experiment

June 17, 2008 on 9:42 am | In Resonance Mates, Covers | 2 Comments

It looks like the new cover for Jaci’s Experiment (releasing in eBook August 5th) is now official. What do you think?

Love… the grandest experiment of all.

As a young Alvian lab tech, Jaci knows her place in the orderly, emotionless society her race has established on the planet Earth. While preparing a batch of experimental skin patches, she is accidentally exposed to a gene-altering agent. In a matter of days, she’s assaulted with raw, primitive, forbidden emotions she has no clue how to handle. If her superiors find out, she’s a dead woman.

Her only hope is to seek help from the human test subjects held captive in pens below the city.

Before the aliens came, cousins Mike and Dave used their psychic abilities to their advantage in business dealings. Now they use them to stay alive, keeping a sharp telepathic eye out for ways to help themselves and others improve their lot…or escape. Their friendship with Jaci has always been more than simply captives and caretaker. Now that her DNA has changed, their shared resonance is the stuff of legend.

Inevitably, Jaci’s emotions expose her to deadly Alvian justice. Suddenly she’s in the race of her life, seeking the only safety she’s ever known…in the arms of her human Resonance Mates.

New Cover - Perfect

That awesome artist and author, Stella Price, has just created a lovely cover for my very first story with Tease Publishing. Check it out:

The book will be out on May 15th from Tease. Here’s a little bit about it:

A city girl meets a country boy. She’s “gone country” and he’s just the man to teach her to ride…

A city girl at heart, successful business woman and former bakery owner, Cassandra, has sold out and moved West to her own slice of heaven – a working ranch, complete with cowboys. She doesn’t know much about ranch life, but she’s a willing student, especially when the new ranch hand catches her eye.

Cody compliments her cooking and charms his way into her life, but he’s keeping secrets, and she doesn’t know if she can trust her instincts where he’s concerned. She’s going to have to make a decision, but should she take the risk?

Amazing New Cover!

I’ve been eager to show this off to everyone, but was waiting ’til it was finalized and approved by the publisher. Here’s the amazingly awesome cover for my May ebook release, FireDrake!

Ain’t that great? *sigh* It’s so dreamy compared to the other dragon books that came before. I love all of those covers, but this book marks a bit of a departure from the first “series” of Dragon Knights books, so it’s apprpriate that it have a different look to its cover. Scott Carpenter did the first series covers (Maiden Flight, Border Lair/Ladies of the Lair, The Ice Dragon, and Prince of Spies). Anne Cain did this cover and also the covers for Wings of Change/I Dream of Dragons. I love both their styles, but they’re quite different, as you can see.

So, what do you think?

It’s That Busy Time of Year

December 1, 2007 on 3:37 pm | In Books, Covers, New Releases, Appearances | No Comments

So much to do! And so little time to do it in. I got my hair done this morning and the salon was buzzing with busy people, so at least now I know I’m not the only one. ;-) Here are some new developments that some of you might find interesting…

First, the Fortune’s Fool anthology has a new cover for the print edition, which is supposed to be out sometime soon. Have a look:

I don’t know if you can make it out, but there’s a buff guy’s chest in the crystal ball. Hubba hubba.

Also, without my realizing it, Whiskey Creek Press Torrid has released my short Holiday story, Solstice Dreams. It’s in Volume 7 of their Celtic Love Knots series, along with a short story by Barri Bryan. My tale is an uplifting story about the union of opposites.

Two elves - one high court and one lower court sidhe - are both searching the far North, seeking wisdom from the fabled jolly old elf. When the warrior and the witch meet, an instant attraction draws them, though such a union is forbidden. Will they flaunt convention and fall in love or will they remain forever searching? (I bet you can tell how it’s going to end!) Pick up your copy now at the WCPT site.

Tonight, I’m heading into Manhattan to have dinner with a few publishing folks and some writer friends and tomorrow I’ll be signing at the Indie & Small Press Book Fair (see my previous post for the address and website info). I hope I’ll see some of you there! We’ll have both ebooks and print books for sale and I’ll be sitting at a table with my good friend, Stella Price, so you’ll be able to find us pretty easily - we’ll be the ones gossiping and having a good time!

Here it is… the long-anticipated cover for my December release, Sweeter Than Wine. Isn’t it cool?

New Cover for Christmas Short

October 19, 2007 on 8:55 am | In Books, Covers | No Comments

Well, here it is…

My part of this compilation is a short story called Solstice Dreams. It’s a tale about two fey - a warrior and a sorceress - one of the High Court, one a Lower Court dark elf. Both are searching for the jolly old elf they’ve heard lives in the far North. (It’s not as hokey as it sounds!) It’s a hot story for a short one and it’ll be out this December from Whiskey Creek Press/Torrid. This is my first release with this publisher, so it’s a learning experience all the way around.

The cover is cool at this size, but when I reduce it down for my website it looks like a big greenish blur to me. LOL! Oh, well. I’ll put it in the side bar as soon as I work up the energy to figure out how to do it again. ;)

I didn’t do much writing yesterday because I spent most of my day proofing a galley for an upcoming print release — not my favorite task because I don’t always see the mistakes after having looked at these passages so many times during the editing process. But that’s still work, so I figure it doesn’t count against me on the writing challenge. And I was ahead of myself anyway on the word count, so it’s all good. I hope to get a lot more actual writing in today. Wish me luck! :)

Oh, and I’ll be signing books with Stella Price at the Borders Book Store in Middletown, New York tomorrow! It’s in the Crystal Run Mall (entrance near Target). Hope to see some of you there!

Dragon Anthology

August 31, 2007 on 9:00 am | In Books, Dragon Knights, Covers | 7 Comments

Wings of Change CoverOn September 11, five dragon stories will release as ebooks from Samhain Publishing. One of them is mine - Wings of Change - with the lovely cover you see on the left.

What you may not yet be aware of, is that all five of these stories will also release in print as part of a 2-volume anthology in the Spring. The anthologies will be called I Dream of Dragons I and II, and they will have two different, but related covers (see Volume I’s cover below).

Wings of Change is one of my Dragon Knights stories and acts as a sort of bridge between the first series of Dragon Knights, which told the love stories of a mother and her three daughters. Wings of Change picks up with new characters, introduces new magical creatures and will lead to a new series of Dragon Knights stories focusing more on the men. Mmmmm. ;-)

There’s already a page on my website for this book, so check it out at: http://dragonknights.biancadarc.com/DK5.html

Here’s the blurb for Wings of Change:
One young woman could be the miracle that heals a dying dragon—and unites a family with her love.

Lucia, born a lady in a foreign land, now waits tables for her keep. When she sees Sir Reynor wasting away, she storms the Castle Lair seeking help for the dying dragon. What she finds is a dashing rogue, a mighty dragoness, and a contrite knight who blames himself for his dragon partner’s injury.

Marcus is enchanted by the foreign beauty and intrigued by her mission. Few women will go near dragons and fewer still can communicate with them. Marcus recognizes Lucia for the treasure she is and knows she is meant for him…and for Kaden.

Kaden is wracked with guilt over the injury that has grounded the dragon—possibly forever. He knows Lucia is special, and he wants her. Lucia just might be the missing piece they all need to form a family. But with Reynor unable to fly, how can any of them be happy?

To make this family whole, they need a miracle. And love—the greatest miracle of all.

My partners in crime for the anthology (volume I) are Summer Devon and Marie Harte. I’m fans of both those ladies and can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with in the dragon realm!
