DRAGON STORM Out Today
November 17, 2009 on 9:00 am | In Books, Dragon Knights, New Releases | 7 CommentsTheir love will span the ages and two very different worlds…
Driven by a magical storm into our world, twin dragon princes Darius and Connor must find a way home. They also find their mate. One woman who is mate to both princes. She holds both their hearts in the palm of her hand along with secrets about her origins and family.
Facing the failures of her past is the only way to get help for her new mates. Josie takes them on a journey to a far off land, there to seek her estranged grandfather’s counsel and aid in returning her lovers to their rightful place. She knows dragons cannot fly free in the modern world and is willing to give up everything — to give up her only chance for true love — to help them return to where they belong.
But fate has other plans for the trio. Magic swirls all around them… whether it is for good or ill, only time will tell.
On sale now in ebook formats from Samhain Publishing
In other news… saddly, my Mom is in the hospital, in pretty bad shape. Prayers would be very welcome. I don’t mean to drag anyone down, but this is why I won’t be online much to promote the new book.
I also got ARCs of my first Kensington Brava book, ONCE BITTEN, TWICE DEAD today. They were waiting for me when I got home from the hospital. Another milestone that I can’t really celebrate with my Mom. So more happy stuff, turned sad.
Happy Moment Turned Sad
November 11, 2009 on 12:40 pm | In Life | 5 CommentsI had something terrible happen today. Well… it was actually supposed to be something fantastic, but given the circumstances in my life at the moment, it’s terrible.
My first-ever NY published book came in the mail. I got to hold HALF PAST DEAD in my hands. Not the ARCs. The real book.
As the visiting nurse was leaving, she and I found the box on the doorstep. I opened the box and what should’ve been a celebratory moment in my life turned into one of extreme sadness. I cried. Not happily. When I should’ve been happy dancing, I was instead thinking of all the plans I’d had to celebrate my first “real” book – one that didn’t come out in ebook first. Plans that may never see fruition now that my Mom is so ill.
She has stage 4 lung cancer. She is a non-smoker so we have no idea how this happened to her. She is on chemo and I can’t be sure that her scary condition now – not eating, sleeping all the time, muscle aches all over and needing a walker and an oxygen line just to get to the bathroom - is only the side effects of chemo, or if she’s going downhill fast from the cancer. Please, God, let it just be the chemo.
(I detailed the journey we’ve taken to get to this point in my most recent newsletter, if you’re interested in how I got here.)
I told Mom that I’d wanted to celebrate my book with a celebratory dinner out, but of course that’s out of the question right now. I told her I wanted a rain check. When she’s better, I want to take her to that dinner and celebrate. I just hope and pray that God lets us get to that point. Please pray if you’re so inclined. Thanks.
CAT’S CRADLE Cover is Here!
November 6, 2009 on 10:22 am | In Covers, Paranormal Tales | 1 CommentLooks like the cover for CAT’S CRADLE has been finalized and approved by The Powers That Be at Samhain. It’s up on the “Coming Soon” pages, but you can get a peek on my site and right here:
Here’s a peek at the blurb:
A match made in adventure… and blessed by Chuck Norris.
As bad days go, this one qualifies as one for the books. Elaine knew being late for her jiu jitsu class could earn her a reprimand from her sensei. But the sensei’s not there. And suddenly, neither is her car. Even walking home becomes problematic when she stumbles onto things that most definitely do go bump in the night. One of whom is too handsome for his own good — and too sexy for hers.
An Alpha Pantera Noir — black panther shifter — Cade operates on his immense skill, superior strength, and dominant personality. There’s something about this small spitfire of a human woman that threatens to bring him to his knees. She blundered into the middle of his mission to transport his queen to safety, and now it’s his responsibility to keep Elaine safe as well. Except no matter what he does, danger finds her at every turn.
Thrust into a world where the supernatural is commonplace, Elaine finds her considerable martial arts skill tested to the limit-and her ability to resist Cade crumbling by the second. But when nothing is as it seems, the last things she can trust are her own instincts…
If you want a look at the character descriptions (which might clear up the Chuck Norris references a bit), check out the page on my website for the book, which will be updated as more information becomes available.
CAT’S CRADLE comes out in ebook on January 5th and in print late next year.
Update
November 2, 2009 on 10:50 am | In Update | 1 CommentSo I dragged you all down into my sadness in my last post. Sorry. I had a moment of crisis and no one to talk to, so I started writing. I’m a writer. I do that.
It helped to write out some of my feelings, though I’m sorry if I brought anyone down, so now we’ll get back to a little book-related news…
Looks like CAT’S CRADLE has gone up on the Samhain Publishing “coming soon” pages, but the cover hasn’t made it up yet. I saw the cover a week or two ago, so I know it’s done. I’m not sure what the hold up is, but I’ll be checking to see when it goes up so I can post it for you. (The cover isn’t official until it goes up on the Samhain site, which is my signal it’s been approved by The Powers That Be.)
I’m working on the galley proof of ONCE BITTEN, TWICE DEAD right now. As soon as I’m done with that, the book is done – on my end at least. If my last Kensington Brava book is any indication, the next thing that will happen is I’ll get some ARCs in the mail. Can’t wait for that!
I’m also working on the second round of edits of CAT’S CRADLE. We’re behind schedule on this book because of all the turmoil in my life. I can’t thank the folks at Samhain enough for working with me during this time. They’ve been very supportive and flexible on the timing of my deadlines, which is a really big help. Since the book is due out on January 5th, we still have a nice amount of time to get everything done, so I’m not too worried. I just need to find the time to do the work in between and around doctor’s appointments, cooking, coaxing Mom to eat, and housework. Ah, what a glamorous life.
So that’s it from here for now. More news as it becomes available.
