Website Changes: Splash Pages

March 4, 2008 on 6:00 am | In Web, SF/Futuristic |

I’ve been tinkering again… I adjusted parts of the FutureWorlds section of my website to create better ”splash” pages for both Hara’s Legacy and the new Sons of Amber print book. I use these kinds of pages for targets of some of my online ads, so that if a person sees one of my ads and clicks on it, they get a quick, encapsulated page that will give them other things to click into and explore, if they so desire. I’ve been working on this for a while, but just made these new versions “live” this past weekend. You can see them here:

Hara’s Legacy Splash

Sons of Amber Splash (doesn’t have buy links yet because the book isn’t out yet)

It took me a while to realize I needed something like this, so I’m passing along the idea here for other authors or web designers who might not have thought of it yet. If you’re doing web-based ads, I think it’s a pretty good idea to have them hit a target that’s a little less complicated than your regular website homepage - particularly if you’re advertising a specific book. Feel free to ask questions and let me know what you think!
