Dragon Anthology

Wings of Change CoverOn September 11, five dragon stories will release as ebooks from Samhain Publishing. One of them is mine - Wings of Change - with the lovely cover you see on the left.

What you may not yet be aware of, is that all five of these stories will also release in print as part of a 2-volume anthology in the Spring. The anthologies will be called I Dream of Dragons I and II, and they will have two different, but related covers (see Volume I’s cover below).

Wings of Change is one of my Dragon Knights stories and acts as a sort of bridge between the first series of Dragon Knights, which told the love stories of a mother and her three daughters. Wings of Change picks up with new characters, introduces new magical creatures and will lead to a new series of Dragon Knights stories focusing more on the men. Mmmmm. ;-)

There’s already a page on my website for this book, so check it out at: http://dragonknights.biancadarc.com/DK5.html

Here’s the blurb for Wings of Change:
One young woman could be the miracle that heals a dying dragon—and unites a family with her love.

Lucia, born a lady in a foreign land, now waits tables for her keep. When she sees Sir Reynor wasting away, she storms the Castle Lair seeking help for the dying dragon. What she finds is a dashing rogue, a mighty dragoness, and a contrite knight who blames himself for his dragon partner’s injury.

Marcus is enchanted by the foreign beauty and intrigued by her mission. Few women will go near dragons and fewer still can communicate with them. Marcus recognizes Lucia for the treasure she is and knows she is meant for him…and for Kaden.

Kaden is wracked with guilt over the injury that has grounded the dragon—possibly forever. He knows Lucia is special, and he wants her. Lucia just might be the missing piece they all need to form a family. But with Reynor unable to fly, how can any of them be happy?

To make this family whole, they need a miracle. And love—the greatest miracle of all.

My partners in crime for the anthology (volume I) are Summer Devon and Marie Harte. I’m fans of both those ladies and can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with in the dragon realm!

Boy, Did I Make a Boo Boo!

August 30, 2007 on 12:58 pm | In Just For Fun | No Comments

I was so nervous about missing my guest blog day on Jacki Frank’s blog, I did it a day early!!! My sincere apologies to Yasmine Galenorn. I didn’t mean to step all over her day, but see, I was so worried I’d forget, somehow I got all mixed up in my mind and just KNEW I was supposed to blog. Unfortunately, I had the wrong day. I feel like such a bozo!

Thanks to all those who visited me on Jacki’s blog yesterday. Even though I was in the wrong, it was cool to see all of you who turned out. :)

Guest Blogging Today

August 29, 2007 on 10:54 am | In Guests, Appearances | No Comments

I did a stint over on Jacquelyn Frank’s blog today as a guest blogger. I think my post was sort of all over the place, but what the heck. *shrug* Go over and leave a comment, so Jacki knows I’m loved, okay? ;-) Oh, and tomorrow’s guest on her blog will be Nalini Singh. Wow, huh?

I’ve been working on a few things for various appearances I’ll be making this October. Stella Price has cooked up an honest to goodness signing tour. I’ve already posted some of the dates on my events page, but check back for more as we finalize the dates and information.  So far, I think we’re doing signings in Philadelphia, PA - Middletown, NY - Massachusetts - and Paramus, NJ, as well as the big events I’ve already signed up for in Kentucky in September and New Jersey RWA Conference on October 6th.

Lots of goodies have been ordered to give away, so if you’re in any of those areas, please drop by! In the meantime, the Scavenger Hunt is still ongoing, so get your entries in!

More Info on Michael

I promised to tell you a little more about Michael, so to start, here’s the blurb:

Michael is a Dominant Son of Amber, commandant of the human fighting forces and in charge of Atlantia Station. When he hears a smuggling ring is kidnapping human women and transporting them to the jit’suku galaxy, he goes undercover with his executive officer to uncover the rats in their own kitchen. But playing the role of submissive female is something Leah, the competant XO, isn’t sure she can do. Michael proves to her she not only can, but will enjoy the Dominant games he plays so well for benefit of the smugglers they must convince.

While the story is named for the hero, the heroine is competant, capable, and pretty darn cool too. She’s Michael’s executive officer (XO), a high-ranking military officer in her own right and descendant of a legendary military family. When humanity needs her, she rises to the occasion, though she never intended to join the military when she was younger. Still, she’s risen through the ranks through hard work and acts as Michael’s steadying influence. They work as a team, efficient and deadly. She respects him, but more than that, over the years they’ve worked together, she’s come to love him.

This is the first time I’ve written a hero who’s super Dominant. I think he turned out well, with the right mix between domination and obnoxiousness. LOL. I really hate those dumb alphas who order people around just because they can. I need a character whose dominance is tempered by intellect and a certain amount of compassion. I think Michael works in this way, but you all can be the final judge of that. :)

Michael Is On His Way!

August 17, 2007 on 11:17 am | In Jit'Suku Chronicles, SF/Futuristic, New Releases | No Comments

Starting to get excited here. Michael is a raunchy little story with some very deep emotional content and I think you’re all going to like it. (At least I hope you will!) Things are moving right along and we’re all set for release on Monday. I’m not sure, but I think Phaze might actually go live with the release sometime on Sunday night, but don’t hold me to that.

Their site is a little confusing to navigate, but I’ve found using my author page makes it easire. At least for me! LOL.

If I have my dates right, All Romance eBooks might also be putting out a piece of flash fiction related to the Sons of Amber series today. Check their newsletter for it! It’s “A Day in the Life of Ezekiel” which some of you might have read already, though I didn’t circulate it widely. It’s a rather melancholy look at the life of a typical Son of Amber - before he discovers love.

I’ll be posting the blurb and cover for Michael tomorrow, probably, so stay tuned as Michael enters the countdown to blast off!

New Sales! Resonance Mates 2 & 3

August 16, 2007 on 10:03 am | In Books, Resonance Mates | 3 Comments

Samhain Publishing has decided to pick up the second and third books in my Resonance Mates series - the one that started with Hara’s Legacy. Book 2 is titled Davin’s Quest and Book 3 is called Jaci’s Experiment.

Davin’s Quest will probably be out sometime early next year in ebook and Jaci’s Experiment - I’m guessing - might be out in either late 2008 or early 2009. I don’t have definite word on any of this yet, but that’s the way I *think* it will play out. I’m absolutely thrilled to have the series stay with Samhain and look forward to working on edits to whip these manuscripts into shape.

Actually, I need to finish them both first, but that should be a pleasure now that I know they have a good home. Davin needs a little re-working on his opening chapter, but I don’t mind. Some of you may know I wrote Hara’s Legacy long before Samhain was even around. I’d been targeting another publisher, who sat on the manuscript for over a year before rejecting it without even reading it. I turned around and sent the same thing to my editor at Samhain and she bought it three days later. The year delay annoyed me, but it worked out for the best, I think.

Still, Hara’s Legacy is essentially “old” writing. I’ve learned so much in the years since I first wrote that book - and since I wrote the first halves of both Davin’s and Jaci’s books. I’ll enjoy putting my new knowledge to work on the rest of those stories and cleaning up the beginnings. I think it’ll be a fun challenge!

Any Space Geeks Out There?

August 15, 2007 on 9:47 am | In Space | No Comments

I admit it. I’m a geek to the core. Since the space shuttle went up a few days ago, I’ve had my sad imitation of Mission Control going on in my office. My version involves perching my laptop next to my desktop and tuning it to NASA TV. I have the live feed from space going all day while I’m on the desktop computer doing other things. I know… total GEEK!!

Then again, I also used to listen to the cabin chatter on airline flights, back when I was a frequent flyer. Back in the old days, I used to fly to the West Coast at least once a month or more, and all over the country on a more regular basis. On certain flights, the pilots would devote one channel on the audio entertainment to their communications with ground control, tower, air traffic control and other pilots in the airspace. I LOVED listening to that! Maybe it has to do with the fact that there are a lot of engineer-types in my family and some of them are pilots. Maybe it’s my own inquisitive nature and scientific training. Or maybe I’m just a little strange. (Probably the latter.) ;)

But my hat - if I wore one - would be off to the spacewalkers I’ve been watching for the past few days. The views - particularly of the hurricane near Hawaii - have been totally cool and the progress on the ISS (International Space Station) is fantastic. Very interesting stuff going on up there. You should take a look if you have a chance. Every night when the astronauts go to sleep, they run a “highlights” reel at the top of each hour showing you what went on earlier in the day in 30 minutes or so. It’s worth checking out. Just go to www.nasa.gov and click on “Watch NASA TV” at the top of the middle column.

BTW - who else thinks astronaut Charles Hobaugh’s nickname “Scorch” is totally cool - and a little scary? LMAO!
